In a qualitative intelligence operation, the General Directorate of Counter-Terrorism (CTG), in coordination with the Kirkuk Intelligence and Security Directorate, were able to dismantle a network of terrorists that aimed to commit several terrorist acts during the month of Ramadan in both the city of Kirkuk and Mosul. .
The operation took place on March 11th 2024, in which a terrorist named (A, M, A) was arrested in the city of Kirkuk, a resident of the city of Mosul. He was a member of one of the armed terrorist branches and was making threats in Kirkuk in the name of the Islamic State organization and took money from people.
His confessions also revealed that the group was conducting reconnaissance operations at police points and points protecting oil installations inside Kirkuk Governorate to target them, and obtained a number of materials to manufacture explosives and use them in terrorist acts at the end of the month of Ramadan.
After continuous investigations and follow-up in coordination with the Kirkuk Intelligence and Security Directorate, the Kirkuk Police Support Force, and the Commando Force of the Kirkuk Operations Command, all members of the terrorist network were arrested. The operation resulted in the arrest of the two terrorists,( F.H.A) a resident of the city of Mosul, who is one of the terrorists. The organization's leaders are in the so-called Nineveh province, and they are wanted on several criminal and terrorist cases. The terrorist (S.A.R) is one of the organization's leaders. He worked in the so-called Islamic police in the Tigris province.
