Counter-Terrorism Announces the Arrest of a Wanted Terrorist
Acting on precise intelligence and following intensive investigation and surveillance, and with the approval of the competent judge, the General Directorate of Counter-Terrorism successfully arrested a wanted terrorist during a security operation conducted within the administrative boundaries of Bazian district.
The arrested individual, identified as Abdulmumin Ahmed Salih Al-Rifai, pledged allegiance to the terrorist organization known as the Islamic State in the Qayyarah area in 2015. After completing a religious training course within the organization, he served in its support and logistics unit. He also took part in several armed confrontations within what the organization called its “Salah al-Din Province,” fighting against the Iraqi Army and Iraqi security forces.
Following the collapse of the organization, he fled to Syria and stayed at Al-Hol Camp. After one year, he returned to Iraq and was transferred to Hajj Ali Camp in Mosul. He later made his way to the Kurdistan Region and settled in Bazian.
Following his arrest, he was handed over to the relevant judicial authorities to complete the necessary legal procedures and hold him accountable in accordance with the law.
